Reception area was very spacious cool and modern. Can be a problem finding your room as the hotel is very large and all looks the same. Room was very clean, a few marks on the carpet but only to be expected when being used constantly by guests. Overall a lovely hotel in a great location. Marble Arch tube station around the corner in Oxford Street so close to shopping and all the main attractions.

    Superb

I picked the Cumberland as I had stayed there before some time ago on business. I picked it for location and the quality team managing the hotel and serving customers. I was really pleased with the reception desk team. As a disabled traveller, they had noted my request for s room near the lifts, on a lower floor. Were aware of me as an individual and were there at all times, prompting me with questions such as, did I require help to my room, help with my case etc. Edita on reception was very warm and friendly, she shared a joke and was welcoming and interested in me. On departure, I had to wait a few minutes for a receptionist to become available. The desk manager noted me waiting (with my walking stick) and opened a new desk point and then managed my check out personally. The Rhodes Bar was very nice, comfortable and I had a great croque monsuer sandwich and fries.

I would recommend the hotel has a firm pillow or two in each room as I only had soft pillows and had trouble droping off to sleep.

From a location perspective this is an excellent hotel

Utilitarian room furniture and stained carpet. Only half the lifts working. Reception staff promised to book us a table for evening meal but didn't. Chambermaid tried to enter the room twice from 08:30 well before we checked out. Long queues for breakfast;plastic tables with no cloth like a school canteen. Stayed several years ago and thought the hotel was poor;still do. I won't be staying again.

Fantastic place to stay .Very clean and modern. Staff were very polite and helpfull. The location was spot on with everything within walking distance. Highly recommended.

the lobby and the ground staff were probably the highlight of my stay. Also, it was just around the corner from Oxford Street.

i felt ripped off for the price i paid. The room was the size of a coffin, where my small suitcase wouldn't even fit through the door and tiny hall unless i carried it sideways. There was no adequate room for my suitcase in the room so it had to be on the floor next to my bed - so i literally had to climb over my bag (hitting my knee against the nightstand a few times) to leave the room or go to the bathroom. i couldn't believe i paid 300 pounds for that ! It lacked basic amenities like toothpaste and my room was located directly adjacent to a service lift that went off at 5am with banging and crashing noises as well as service trollies being dragged in and out throughout the early hours of the morning - i barely got any sleep.

    Very good

What I liked best about my stay at the Cumberland was, that it was very easy to find, it is very central, close to any form of public transport and the best shopping area of London (Oxford Street). The bed was very comfy, and the room was squeaky clean. We could also check out later (at 1pm) which was a nice gesture.

The waiting time at the reception was about 10 minutes. Room was very tiny and looked like a "discount room" - not that I paid the full price, but still, it did not seem that this room would normally cost £300 a night, that was just not possible.

    Good

the hotel is smack bang in the middle of london just want we wanted, taxies were available right out side the door "fabulous" the entrance of the hotel is out of this world in fact I could say one of the best, when you walk through the revolving doors to be greeted by the amazing statues it is breath taking and to top off the surprise the lighting is also just fabulous its is worth a trip just to take a look

I'm sorry to say this hotel is it not what I have come to expect of a four star hotel, the tea tray has cheap metal cups the mineral water was not refreshed on day two of our stay and a dirty plate was left outside our room for the whole day and overnight, the staff only spoke to us if we spoke to them no hello or good morning, such a shame, we upgraded on check in only to find that the room we received was just the same as the room was would have been given at the same price, we paid for the view of the road, thanks

    Location

The lack of breakfast for the price paid. Really disappointed about that. The arrangement of the signs to the rooms was very confusing. This was not helped by the corridors looking identical!

    Very good

Eventually a nice quiet room. Polite and helpful customer service desk. Efficent handling of luggage.

Not a complaint as our problem was resolved successfully by customer services. First room air con did not produce enough warmth. second room noisy generators in coutyard below. Third room in annexe was ideal.
